Lena is a professional artist and illustrator based in Hertfordshire, UK.

She grew up in the Soviet Union (Russia), where she attended drawing school during her childhood. Later, she earned a degree in Architecture and worked as an architect for over 20 years, contributing to a wide range of projects.

Throughout the years, Lena remained passionate about drawing, sketching during holidays and in her free time. In 2021, she began painting with watercolors, and art became a central part of her life. By the end of 2023, she transitioned to a full-time artistic career, dedicating herself entirely to painting and illustration.

Her architectural background refined her perspective and geometric skills, especially when drawing street views, urban scenes, and city skylines - her favorite subjects.

Painting and drawing in impressionist style, Lena focuses on the play of light and shadow to convey the moods and emotions of the scenes. She also enjoys playing with angles of view.

Lena works across a range of materials, adapting her approach to each subject. Watercolour remains central to her practice, valued for its spontaneity and transparency, ink and pencil play a key role in her drawing process. She has also recently begun exploring oil painting, expanding her visual language through depth, texture, and atmosphere.

Lena views her art as a form of visual storytelling, bridging contemporary art and illustration. She is rarely without her sketchbook, always observing and capturing the world around her.

"I believe you have to see and feel a subject before drawing it. I love capturing the buzz of the city. The people, the scents, and the cultural mix, then translating that energy into my sketches and paintings. I see my artwork as a messenger, and if others feel that emotion when they look at my work, I know I’ve succeeded." - Lena
